In the 99minds app, you can create coupon codes and give users the flexibility to use these codes to redeem offers and discounts on products.
Types of Coupon Codes
You can create two types of coupon codes in the 99minds app -
- Fixed Coupon - This coupon code will be used by all your customers
- Random Coupon - These are random generated customized coupon codes that can be given to your customers based on their purchase activity
Fixed Coupon
If you want to create a specific coupon code that will be used by all your customers, click the + New Fixed Coupon button. This will open the coupon code generator window where you can fill in the information in the fields to generate the code. Say, for example, you want to run a New Year special sale that is available for all customers, you can create a fixed coupon code as "PARKAVENY2020" and define the discount value for the particular code.
Coupon Code - Enter the coupon code that you want your customers to use to get a discount or avail a specific offer. For example, you can enter the code as BLACKFRIDAYSALE or SPRING25OFF.
Type - You can choose the coupon type as either Fixed Amount or Percentage
Discount Value - Depending on the selection in the Type field, you must enter the value in the Discount Value field.
If you had selected Fixed Amount, you can enter a fixed discount value in the Discount Type field. E.g., 50 (50 USD off).
If you had selected Percentage, you can enter a percentage value in the Discount Type field. E.g., 10% (10% off).
Date - You can set the duration for which the coupon should be valid. You must select the Start and End date. For ease of use, you can click This Month to select the current month from the 1st to 30th/31st. The other options are to set the coupon validity to Three Months or Six Months.
Redemption - This field defines the number of times a fixed coupon can be redeemed. There are two types of redemption limits for the coupon codes - Limited and Unlimited.
If you select Limited, a new field will pop open to define the number of times the coupon can be used. For e.g., if you enter 100, after 100 times the code has been used, it can no longer be used. You will see an error message stating the code is invalid and cannot be used.
If you select Unlimited, the code can be used multiple times without any restrictions.
Limit per user - You can limit how many times the user can use the coupon code depending on your promotion campaign. For e.g., defining the limit as 1 means the user can only use the code once.
Active - Select the active check box to make the coupon code active. To disable a coupon code, deselect the check box.
Random Coupon
You can create random coupons (customized coupon codes) when you want to give unique codes to customers depending on their purchase activity. For example, you can create coupon codes for customers to use only on Fridays such as TGIFRIDAY10. You can also customize these coupon codes with specific prefix and suffix values that will be appended to the code.
Quantity - Enter the number of codes you want to generate for the promotion.
Length - Enter the number of characters to have in the code. As a best practice, make sure your coupon code length is between 5 characters and a maximum of 20 characters.
Character Set - You can choose to have the character set as either numbers, letters or a combination of numbers and letters. It is recommended to select the combination of numbers and letters for better security reasons.
Prefix / Suffix - In addition to the automatically generated random code, you can add customized prefix and suffix code for easy identification purposes. The prefix and suffix will be added to the code based on the number of characters you have in the code. It is not mandatory to define the prefix and suffix codes. If you do not specify the values, random values will appear in the code.
